Punta Cana

Palm-lined beaches on the eastern tip

Punta Cana is the easternmost point of the Dominican Republic, and its name now covers a long coast of white-sand beaches, including Bávaro, lined with coconut palms and all-inclusive resorts. The water is calm behind the offshore reef, good for swimming and snorkelling. Catamaran trips run to Saona Island in the Cotubanamá National Park, with a natural sandbank pool full of starfish. The Hoyo Azul cenote at Scape Park is a striking swim, and golf courses dot the coast.
