Adventure town beneath an active volcano
Baños de Agua Santa sits at the foot of the Tungurahua volcano, on the route down from the Andes to the Amazon. Its thermal baths gave the town its name. The Ruta de las Cascadas descends by bike past a series of waterfalls to the thundering Pailón del Diablo, where a trail leads to the base. The Casa del Árbol has a famous swing over the valley. Rafting, canyoning and paragliding are all on offer, and the town is known for its taffy, pulled by hand in shop doorways.
