Kaieteur Falls

A single mighty drop in untouched rainforest

Kaieteur Falls plunges about 226 metres in a single drop from a sandstone plateau into a gorge in the Guyanese rainforest, carrying a large volume of water for its height. Most visitors fly in on a small plane from Georgetown, landing on a strip near the falls, then walk short trails to viewpoints with no railings and no crowds. Look for golden rocket frogs in the giant bromeliads, and the Guianan cock-of-the-rock. Overland trips take several days by road, boat and on foot.
