A royal castle above a tiny capital
Vaduz is the capital of Liechtenstein, a tiny principality between Switzerland and Austria. Above the town, Vaduz Castle is the residence of the princely family and not open to visitors, but it makes a striking sight against the mountains. In town, the Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein shows modern and contemporary art, and the Liechtenstein National Museum covers the country's history. The prince's own winery, the Hofkellerei, produces wine from vineyards at the foot of the castle. Hiking trails lead into the Alps, and the ski area of Malbun is nearby.
