Leafy boulevards and some of Europe's great cellars
Chișinău is a leafy capital of wide boulevards, parks and a mix of 19th-century and Soviet-era buildings. Its centre is Stefan cel Mare Boulevard with the Cathedral Park and the Arc de Triomphe nearby. The Central Market is lively, and the National Museum of History traces the region's past. Moldova is a wine country, and just outside the city are the enormous underground cellars of Cricova and Mileștii Mici, with galleries running for many kilometres.
