Overwater bungalows beneath Mount Otemanu
Bora Bora is a small volcanic island in the Society Islands, encircled by a lagoon of startling blue and a ring of low coral islets, or motu. The jagged peak of Mount Otemanu rises from its centre. Luxury resorts on the motu are famed for overwater bungalows, and days are spent snorkelling with rays and blacktip reef sharks, taking outrigger canoe trips around the lagoon and eating on the beach at Matira Point, the island's best public stretch of sand.
