A garden city-state of hawker food and skyline
Singapore packs a lot into a small island. Marina Bay is its showpiece, with the Marina Bay Sands hotel and the Supertrees and glass conservatories of Gardens by the Bay. The neighbourhoods tell the city's story: Chinatown's temples and shophouses, the colourful streets of Little India and the mosque and textile shops of Kampong Glam. Eating in hawker centres such as Maxwell and Lau Pa Sat is essential, from Hainanese chicken rice to chilli crab, and the airport at Changi is a sight in itself.
