San Marino

San Marino

An ancient republic on a mountain ridge

San Marino claims to be the world's oldest surviving republic, and its capital sits on the ridge of Monte Titano with views stretching to the Adriatic. Its three medieval towers, Guaita, Cesta and Montale, are linked by a clifftop path that is the highlight of any visit. The walled old town, a UNESCO site, has the Palazzo Pubblico, small museums and plenty of shops. It is an easy day trip from Rimini.
