A colourful capital reinventing itself
Tirana has transformed itself from a grey communist capital into a colourful, sociable city, known for its painted façades and packed cafés. Skanderbeg Square is the heart of the city, overlooked by the Et'hem Bey Mosque and the National History Museum. Bunk'Art 1 and 2 are museums inside Cold War bunkers, and the Blloku district, once reserved for the party elite, is now full of bars and restaurants. The Dajti Ekspres cable car climbs to Mount Dajti.
