Antwerp

Rubens, diamonds and Belgian fashion

Antwerp combines old-master art with a cutting-edge fashion scene. Peter Paul Rubens lived and worked here, and his house is a museum; his altarpieces hang in the Cathedral of Our Lady, whose spire dominates the old town. The Museum Plantin-Moretus preserves a printing house from the 16th century, and the MAS museum tower gives views over the port. Antwerp Central Station is one of the most beautiful in the world. The city is also a global centre of the diamond trade and home to renowned fashion designers.
