Pink sand and pastel cottages in the Atlantic
Bermuda is a hook-shaped chain of islands in the Atlantic, far from the Caribbean but with the same clear water. Its beaches, especially Horseshoe Bay, have sand tinged pink by tiny red organisms from the reef. Pastel cottages with white stepped roofs collect rainwater, and the old town of St George's, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, dates from 1612. The Crystal Caves have underground lakes, the Royal Naval Dockyard houses a maritime museum, and the surrounding reefs hold hundreds of shipwrecks for divers.
