Eleuthera

Pink sand and Harbour Island

Eleuthera is a long, thin island in the Bahamas with the Atlantic on one side and the calm, shallow Bight of Eleuthera on the other. Its villages are small and its beaches uncrowded. The Glass Window Bridge crosses the island's narrowest point, where the dark Atlantic meets the pale blue of the bight. Harbour Island, a short water-taxi ride away, is known for its pink-sand beach and the pastel colonial cottages of Dunmore Town, and golf carts are the usual transport.
