Swimming pigs and sandbars in electric blue water
The Exumas are a chain of islands and cays stretching over 200 km through the central Bahamas, set in water of astonishing turquoise and blue. Boat trips are the way to see them: to Big Major Cay, where pigs swim out to greet visitors, to the Thunderball Grotto, a cave from a James Bond film, and to the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park, a protected area of reefs and islands. Great Exuma and its town of George Town are the main base, with sandbars emerging at low tide nearby.
