Striking towers and a traditional souk on the Gulf
Kuwait City lies on a bay of the Persian Gulf, and its emblem is the Kuwait Towers, three needle-like towers decorated with blue-green discs. Souq Al-Mubarakiya, one of the oldest markets in the region, sells spices, dates and dishdashas, with simple restaurants serving grilled fish. The Grand Mosque, the Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Cultural Centre and the Tareq Rajab Museum, with its collection of Islamic art, are worth a visit, and the Arabian Gulf Street runs along the sea.
