The twin peaks of the Pitons
St Lucia's signature sight is the Pitons, two steep volcanic spires rising side by side from the sea near the town of Soufrière, together a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nearby, the Sulphur Springs are sometimes called a drive-in volcano, with mud baths, and the Diamond Falls and botanical gardens are close by. The island is green and mountainous, with rainforest ziplines and hikes up Gros Piton. Rodney Bay in the north is the resort and nightlife centre, and Gros Islet's Friday night street party is a local tradition.
