Malta's quieter, greener sister island
Gozo is a short ferry ride from Malta but feels slower and more rural, with terraced fields, stone villages and dramatic coastal cliffs. The Ġgantija temples are among the oldest free-standing structures in the world, older than the pyramids. The Citadel in Victoria overlooks the whole island, while the coast offers some of the Mediterranean's best diving and the salt pans of Xwejni. Nearby Comino is known for the clear water of the Blue Lagoon.
