Tofo

Diving with manta rays and whale sharks

Tofo is a small beach town on the Inhambane peninsula in southern Mozambique, with a long curve of golden sand and a relaxed backpacker feel. It is best known for its marine life: giant manta rays at reefs such as Manta Reef and whale sharks that can be seen year-round, along with humpback whales from about June to October. Ocean safaris take snorkellers out to swim with the whale sharks. The historic town of Inhambane, with its old mosque and cathedral, is nearby.
