Fjord-like inlets on the Strait of Hormuz
Musandam is an Omani exclave at the tip of the Arabian Peninsula, separated from the rest of the country by the UAE. Bare mountains plunge straight into the sea, forming deep inlets, or khors, often compared to fjords. From the port of Khasab, traditional dhows cruise Khor Ash Sham, with dolphins riding the bow wave and stops for snorkelling near Telegraph Island. Inland, a mountain road climbs to Jebel Harim, the peninsula's highest point.
