Papua New Guinea's harbour capital
Port Moresby is Papua New Guinea's capital and the arrival point for most visitors to one of the world's most culturally diverse countries, where more than eight hundred languages are spoken. The National Museum and Art Gallery holds carvings, masks and canoes from across the country, and the Parliament House is built in the style of a Sepik haus tambaran, a spirit house. The Port Moresby Nature Park shows birds of paradise and tree kangaroos. Most visitors pass through on their way to the highlands, the islands or Kokoda.
