Vietnam's wildest mountain road
Ha Giang, on the Chinese border, has some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in Southeast Asia. The Ha Giang Loop, usually ridden by motorbike over three or four days, climbs through the Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark, past terraced fields and villages of Hmong, Dao and Lo Lo people. The high point is the Ma Pi Leng Pass, where the road clings to the cliffs above the green Nho Que River. Weekly markets in towns such as Dong Van draw people from the surrounding hills.
