One of Africa's largest waterfalls by volume
The Kalandula Falls on the Lucala River are among the largest waterfalls in Africa by volume, dropping around a hundred metres over a broad horseshoe-shaped cliff. In the rainy season the falls become a wall of water and spray, and in drier months they separate into many strands. A viewpoint above the falls and a path down to the base give different views. The falls lie in Malanje province, around 400 kilometres east of Luanda, and the Pedras Negras de Pungo Andongo in the same province are huge black rock formations.
