Rickshaws, river ghats and Mughal forts
Dhaka is a dense, energetic city with a long history. Old Dhaka holds the unfinished Mughal Lalbagh Fort, the pink Ahsan Manzil palace and the Star Mosque's mosaics, and at Sadarghat boats of every size crowd the Buriganga River. Cycle rickshaws, famously painted, fill the streets. The National Parliament House, designed by Louis Kahn, is a masterpiece of modern architecture. Eat kacchi biryani and bhorta, and try fuchka street snacks.
