The city of eternal spring
Medellín fills a valley with a year-round mild climate, and it is known for its remarkable transformation since the 1990s. Metrocable gondolas link hillside neighbourhoods to the metro, and Comuna 13, once among the most dangerous districts, is now visited for its outdoor escalators, murals and hip hop. Plaza Botero displays the rotund bronzes of the city's most famous artist. El Poblado and Laureles hold most of the restaurants and nightlife. Day trips go to Guatapé and the huge rock of El Peñol.
