Roman mosaics and the birthplace of Aphrodite
Paphos combines a relaxed harbour town with one of the richest archaeological parks in the Mediterranean, a UNESCO site. The Roman villas of the Paphos Archaeological Park have floor mosaics of astonishing detail, and the Tombs of the Kings are carved from solid rock. Just along the coast, Petra tou Romiou is the rock where Aphrodite is said to have risen from the sea. Further north, the Akamas Peninsula has wild beaches and hiking trails.
