Český Krumlov

A fairy-tale town in a loop of the Vltava

Český Krumlov is a small town wrapped in an S-bend of the Vltava river, its medieval and Renaissance houses almost unchanged for centuries, and a UNESCO site. The castle complex is huge, with a painted tower, a baroque theatre still using original machinery and a cloak bridge spanning a ravine. Wander the lanes, visit the Egon Schiele Art Centre and float down the river on a raft or canoe in summer. Stay overnight to see it quiet.
