A grand spa town of hot springs and colonnades
Karlovy Vary is the grandest of the Bohemian spa towns, a valley of pastel hotels and elegant colonnades built around hot mineral springs. Visitors stroll from spring to spring sipping the water from special porcelain cups, and the Hot Spring geyser shoots high inside its colonnade. Try the thin spa wafers and Becherovka, the local herbal liqueur. The town hosts a major international film festival each summer, and the Grandhotel Pupp is a famous landmark.
