Fiji's rainy, multicultural capital
Suva, the capital of Fiji, sits on a peninsula on the southeast coast of Viti Levu. Its Fiji Museum, in the Thurston Gardens, holds canoes, war clubs and objects from across Fiji's history, and colonial buildings such as the Grand Pacific Hotel line the waterfront. The Suva Municipal Market is piled with tropical fruit, fish and kava root. The city reflects Fiji's mix of iTaukei and Indo-Fijian cultures, and the rainforest of Colo-i-Suva Forest Park is a short drive away.
