Cliffs of Moher

Sheer cliffs above the Atlantic

The Cliffs of Moher run for about 14 kilometres along the coast of County Clare and reach more than 200 metres at their highest. On a clear day you can see the Aran Islands and Galway Bay. Puffins and other seabirds nest on the ledges in early summer. The visitor centre is built into the hillside, and O'Brien's Tower gives a high view, but walking the coastal path, from Doolin in the north or Hag's Head in the south, is the best way to see them. The limestone Burren and the music pubs of Doolin are nearby.
