Literary pubs, Georgian squares and a lot of stout
Dublin is a compact, walkable city with a big literary reputation: Joyce, Wilde, Yeats and Beckett all came from here. Trinity College holds the Book of Kells and its magnificent Long Room library. The Georgian squares around Merrion and St Stephen's Green are elegant, and museums such as the National Gallery are free. The Guinness Storehouse tells the story of the famous stout, and its rooftop bar has the best view in the city. But the pub is the heart of Dublin, whether in Temple Bar or a quieter snug.
