An ancient walled city sacred to three faiths
Jerusalem's Old City, enclosed by sixteenth-century Ottoman walls, is divided into Jewish, Christian, Muslim and Armenian quarters. Within a short walk stand the Western Wall, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Dome of the Rock on the Temple Mount / Haram al-Sharif. Walk the Via Dolorosa, climb the ramparts for views over the rooftops, and eat hummus and ka'ak in the souks. Beyond the walls, the Mount of Olives looks back across the city, and the Israel Museum holds the Dead Sea Scrolls.
