Pakistan's port megacity on the Arabian Sea
Karachi is Pakistan's largest city and its commercial heart, a sprawling port on the Arabian Sea. Colonial-era stone buildings such as Frere Hall and the Empress Market stand in the older districts, and the white marble Mazar-e-Quaid is the mausoleum of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Pakistan's founder. Clifton Beach is where the city strolls at sunset, and Burns Road is the place for nihari, biryani and kebabs. Boat trips head out from the harbour for crab dinners on the water.
