Rooftops with eyes in a Saxon city
Sibiu is one of Transylvania's most attractive cities, founded by Saxon settlers and centred on the Large Square and Small Square. Many roofs have small eyelid-shaped dormer windows, giving the city its nickname of the city with eyes. Cross the Bridge of Lies, visit the Brukenthal National Museum and climb the tower of the Lutheran Cathedral. The ASTRA open-air museum of folk architecture is nearby, as is the dramatic Transfăgărășan road.
