An Ottoman riverside town below a fortress
Prizren is a riverside town of Ottoman mosques, hammams and Orthodox churches, gathered around an old stone bridge over the Bistrica. The Sinan Pasha Mosque is the landmark in the centre, and the 14th-century Church of the Holy Virgin of Ljeviš is part of a UNESCO site. Climb to the fortress for views over the red roofs, and in August the town hosts Dokufest, a well-regarded documentary film festival.
