Skagen

Where two seas meet at the tip of Denmark

At Grenen, the sandy point just beyond Skagen, you can stand with one foot in the Skagerrak and the other in the Kattegat and watch the waves meet. The light here drew a colony of painters in the late 19th century, and their work fills the Skagens Museum. Around town the houses are painted a distinctive ochre yellow with red tile roofs, the harbour sells fresh shrimp, and Råbjerg Mile, a vast migrating dune, lies a short drive south.
