France's food capital between two rivers
Lyon has a strong claim to be the food capital of France. Its bouchons serve hearty local dishes like quenelles and saucisson brioché, and the Halles Paul Bocuse is a temple to cheese, charcuterie and oysters. The city sits where the Rhône and Saône meet, with the Renaissance quarter of Vieux Lyon at the foot of Fourvière hill and its basilica. Hidden passageways called traboules cut through buildings in the old town and on the Croix-Rousse slopes, once home to the silk weavers.
