A crusader walled town on a sunny island
Rhodes is best known for its Old Town, one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe, built by the Knights of St John. Walk the Street of the Knights to the Palace of the Grand Master and circle the massive walls and moats. Beyond the town, the island has long beaches and the whitewashed village of Lindos, crowned by an ancient acropolis above a deep blue bay. The island is also said to be where the Colossus of Rhodes once stood.
