Montego Bay

Jamaica's resort gateway on the north coast

Montego Bay is where most visitors to Jamaica arrive, and the resorts spread along the coast either side of town. Doctor's Cave Beach has fine sand and clear water, and the Hip Strip along Gloucester Avenue is lined with bars, jerk shacks and craft stalls. Rafting on bamboo rafts down the Martha Brae River is a gentle half-day trip, and old plantation great houses such as Rose Hall tell stories of the island's colonial past. Negril and Ocho Rios are both within easy reach.
