Twin towers, hawker food and hilltop caves
Kuala Lumpur is a young, fast-growing capital shaped by its Malay, Chinese and Indian communities. The Petronas Twin Towers dominate the skyline, with a skybridge between them and a park at their feet. Older KL survives around Merdeka Square and the Moorish-style Sultan Abdul Samad Building, while Petaling Street, Little India in Brickfields and Jalan Alor are where to eat. Just north of the city, a giant golden statue guards the 272 steps up to the Hindu shrines of the Batu Caves.
