Langkawi

An island of beaches, mangroves and rainforest

Langkawi is an archipelago of ninety-nine islands off Malaysia's northwest coast, and its main island mixes beaches with rainforest-covered mountains. Pantai Cenang is the liveliest beach, with Tanjung Rhu quieter and more scenic. A cable car climbs Gunung Mat Cincang to the curved Sky Bridge, suspended high above the jungle. Boat trips wind through the mangroves of Kilim Geoforest Park, where eagles wheel overhead, and the island's duty-free status makes it popular with shoppers.
