Windhoek

A highland capital with a German accent

Windhoek lies on a highland plateau in the centre of Namibia and is where most visitors pick up their hire car for a road trip. Its landmarks include the Christuskirche, a Lutheran church from the early 20th century, the Tintenpalast parliament building and the Independence Memorial Museum. Joe's Beerhouse is known for game meat, and the Katutura township has the Single Quarters market for kapana, grilled street-side beef. Daan Viljoen Game Park is a short drive away.
