New Zealand's highest peak and dark skies
Aoraki / Mount Cook, at 3,724 metres, is the highest mountain in New Zealand and the centre of a national park of glaciers and snow peaks in the Southern Alps. The Hooker Valley Track is an easy walk across swing bridges to a glacial lake with icebergs beneath the mountain. The road in runs along the brilliant blue Lake Pukaki. The Aoraki Mackenzie region is an International Dark Sky Reserve, making it one of the best places on Earth for stargazing, and scenic flights land on the Tasman Glacier.
