Geysers, mud pools and Māori culture
Rotorua sits on one of the world's most active geothermal fields: steam drifts from parks and drains, mud pools bubble and the Pōhutu geyser erupts several times a day. It's also a centre of Māori culture, where you can visit a living village, watch a haka and share a hāngī cooked in the earth. Soak in the hot pools afterwards, or ride the famous forest trails.
