Hwange National Park

Zimbabwe's biggest park and its great elephant herds

Hwange National Park covers a huge area of Kalahari sand and teak woodland in western Zimbabwe, a couple of hours' drive from Victoria Falls. It has one of the largest elephant populations in Africa, and in the dry season the herds converge on pumped waterholes where hides let you watch them at close quarters. Lions, buffalo, sable antelope, giraffes and wild dogs are also found here. Camps range from simple national park lodges at Main Camp to private tented camps in the remote south-east.
