Champagne air and glamorous winters
St. Moritz, in the Engadin valley, has been a winter resort since the 1860s and has twice hosted the Winter Olympics. It is known for glamour, luxury hotels and sunshine, but also for serious sport: skiing on Corviglia and Diavolezza, the Cresta Run toboggan track and polo on the frozen lake. In summer the Upper Engadin lakes are ideal for hiking, sailing and windsurfing. The Bernina and Glacier Express trains, among the most scenic rail journeys in the world, both run from here.
