Rainforest that runs down to the beach
Manuel Antonio National Park is one of Costa Rica's smallest but most visited parks, where rainforest trails lead straight to sheltered beaches with calm, clear water. Guides with telescopes point out three-toed sloths, white-faced capuchins, squirrel monkeys and iguanas. The Punta Catedral trail loops around a headland with views over the coast. Outside the park, the road from Quepos is lined with hotels in the hills, and catamaran trips and sport fishing leave from the marina. Arrive early, as visitor numbers are capped.
