Skyscrapers on the Main and apple wine taverns
Frankfurt is known for banking, trade fairs and its airport, but it rewards a stay. The Römerberg square and the rebuilt Neue Altstadt recreate the old town's timbered look, and the cathedral saw the coronations of Holy Roman Emperors. Goethe was born here, and his family home is a museum. The Museumsufer along the River Main holds more than a dozen museums, including the Städel art collection. In Sachsenhausen, taverns serve Apfelwein with Grüne Soße, the city's green herb sauce.
