The world's northernmost capital, small and creative
Reykjavík feels more like a creative town than a capital. Hallgrímskirkja's basalt-inspired tower looks over streets of corrugated-iron houses painted in bright colours, and the glass-walled Harpa concert hall glitters by the harbour. Locals gather in geothermal swimming pools and hot pots year round, and the music and bar scene punches far above the city's size. Nearly everyone who visits Iceland passes through, whether heading to the Golden Circle, the Blue Lagoon or around the Ring Road.
