Volcanic coasts, tangerines and haenyeo divers
Jeju is a volcanic island whose landscapes are a UNESCO site: Hallasan, South Korea's highest mountain, rises at its centre, the Manjanggul lava tube runs underground, and Seongsan Ilchulbong is a tuff crater rising from the sea, popular for sunrise. The Olle trails loop around the coast through villages and tangerine groves. The haenyeo, women free divers who harvest seafood, are part of the island's heritage. Eat black pork barbecue and abalone porridge, and relax on beaches such as Hyeopjae.
