Oslo

A fjord-side capital of museums, forest and design

Oslo pairs bold new architecture with easy access to nature. You can walk up the sloping marble roof of the Opera House, see Munch's The Scream in the MUNCH museum and wander among Gustav Vigeland's hundreds of sculptures in Frogner Park. The Bygdøy peninsula holds museums of polar exploration, Kon-Tiki and Norwegian folk life. Trams and the metro climb to Holmenkollen's ski jump and the Nordmarka forest, and in summer ferries hop between swimming islands in the fjord.
