Sweden's friendly west-coast port for seafood and islands
Gothenburg is less formal than Stockholm and proud of it. Seventeenth-century canals ring the centre, Haga's wooden houses serve some of the largest cinnamon buns in Sweden, and Feskekôrka, a fish market shaped like a church, shows the city's seafood roots. Liseberg is Scandinavia's largest amusement park. Trams and ferries run out to the southern archipelago, a string of car-free islands with rocky swimming spots, while the Bohuslän coast and its fishing villages stretch north.
